The Start of Civilization

The Start of Civilization

While Herek may have the title of the first Columni city, it was far from civility. Its laws and people can be called barbaric, as the strong took from the weak, and the concept of honor was still in its stages of tuning.
While lands surrounding may have started developing, such as the country of Egypt, none were has quick to advance as the northern lands of Recia. A man from Herek, along with a group of experienced handymen went to the mysterious black mountains to the north which they named Recia in the year 203.
Reaching this land was dangerous, as the black mountains were high and made of an extremely slim and sharp stone. When they finally crossed the treacherous blades of mountains, they ran into a problem just as foul. Giants roamed this land, though they are not giants of which you and I would recognize. They were tall beings with flesh made of ice, and bones of pure ivory with eyes of silver.. They only had one power, and that was to be able to disguise salt as anything they desired. They walked about in fancy clothes and jewelry, only made of salt. Their fierce weapons were also made of salt. It took the group two years to completely topple this empire of icemen and among the bounty of this conquest was an enslaved wizard and a grand fortress made out of the black material. The head of men sat upon the throne of the fortress and was proclaimed King Nolan the First of Recia with those who accompanied him being is loyal nobility, and the wizard was to be released after one project. The ivory bones of the Icemen were piled, and with them the wizard created a great ivory tower with halls of beautiful silver mirrors.
From then, Recia was the land of jewels. No where else would you find a land where you could find rubies and sapphires only a few feet under you. It would throughout Columni history be the land where all royal families would order precious jewelry and the like.
Recia became famous for being a mining powerhouse, as only "Iceman Ivory" could break the solid, black material. They were also known for having the first serfdom/slavery system which would forever brand Recia as "Land of the rich, running people with nothing".

Herek: A History

Herek: A History

Herek was the first city to ever grace the flat face of Columni. It was founded by the first humans in the year 16 in the great desert of the Elder States. It surrounded the sacred Tablet of Count, which was used to count each year. Whomever had the privilege to hold the position of tallying the years was revered, for they had proven that they were important to the whole community. The first person to ever hold such a position was also their king, known as Maoki.

Maoki was a strong huntsman whom had brought the destruction of the Sand Divers. They were reptilian salamanders whom were sneaking into the tents and eventually adobe homes of the then primitive humans. Maoki had the idea of simply sealing them into the ground by mixing the desert sand in water turning it into a thick mud that solidified. Because of his curing of this problem, Hestia appeared before him and proclaimed him as King of Herek and told him of a golden crown that laid with a great reward deep in the dunes to the south.

He formed a small group to help with the dangers ahead and left his father and mother as his regents.
They traveled through the dunes for four days until they came across an odd cave that seemed out of place within the dunes. upon further inspection, they found that it had an enormous cavern and in the very center on a stone plinth sat a beautiful woman as pale as marble and on her lap sat a golden crown with a scroll rolled neatly within. As his men approached, she gripped onto the crown tightly.

It was only when Maoki approached that she softened.
"In order to claim my crown, you must do me a great service." said the woman,
but before she could continue, Maoki rushed her and lifted her over his shoulders and said,
"None of that, I shall claim you my wife!"
Thus the girl, with surprise in her heart, accepted to his swift proposal. She asked that she be carried under a blanket as to avoid sunlight, and they went off back to Herek.

When they arrived home, the pale woman, whom had been named Kina, told all that in order for Maoki to truly be named the first king of Herek, a great structure must be built in order to house all ceremony. Hundreds of miles away, she said, was a great island that was said to be the first place the Creator had sculpted. It is there, she told them, that a temple in honor of the Creator that the Scroll of Creation should be placed, and when the temple is built, they shall have their king and she their queen.

It was in 183 when the temple was finally finished. The extremely old Maoki and Kina were then carried the hundreds of miles to the island in ordered to be crowned. As they were carried up the steps, Kina had accidentally been dropped, throwing her from her covered carrier into the sunlight, killing her fragile body by burning her instantly. Maoki, in his extremely elderly state, had barely noticed. Hestia appeared before the old creature, and under the weight of the golden crown, he had been crushed. Thus his great grandson and his wife took up the mantle of being the next rulers of Herek.

It is worth noting that some Herekians thought the temple was all nonsense and went east from Herek to form Egypt.

The World, Its Creation and Its Humanities

The World, Its Creation and Its Humanities

Nobody is quite sure that the universe looked like before the Creator came into place. Some believed there was nothing, some believe he just lit up the darkness, but most came to the conclusion that when he came to this universe, a giant ball of indestructible material was here already. The Creator found it and proceeded to carve it hollow.
Then, using his powers, he sculpted a magnificent column and decorated it with beautiful alcoves of statues. He split the now hollow ball in two and continued his work. He painted the inside a beautiful dark blue, then poked holes in the walls and painted them in a shining, nearly glowing, gold. Then he hollowed out the statues, and placed never ending fountains in the recesses of the uneven top and placed the column in the very center. This became Columni. When he closed up the ball, he had such a tough time looking into it, so he cut out a large window, and made it glow more than any of the others, which became the sun. From the window he observed how on the top of Columni started to grow with beautiful green. Some places were too hot, so they turned into sand, some of them were too cold, so the water turned to ice.
So beautiful it was to him that he decided to sculpt various beings.

First were the fish, the whales, sharks, crabs and what have you.

Second were the birds, whom fed off the new plants and some the fish.

Finally, he created the beasts. Deer, cows, animals innumerable, which fed on everything else.

For two hundred years, which has been dubbed The Wake, the animals and other beasts reigned over Columni, until finally he found it necessary to create Humanity in all of its glory. He made fifty Men and fifty Women, then called forth a servant, Hestia, and told her that she was the goddess of the realm. This is known as the end of year 0. He then left her with the hundred babies and a scroll he wrote, called the Scroll of Creation, a scroll of destiny. This scroll foretold prophecies and told the lives of everyone who would ever be in existence. It was, if you will, a script with all those who would live and die the actors and actresses. Hestia was incompetent to say the extent of her power. Benevolent though she was, she in no form was ready for the great powers her master had left her with, and for the existence of Columni, she would stay that way. She was a great mother, however, and took care of the children until the year 16. They wed one another with bonds of true love that could only be brought with godly power and together, they formed the first and oldest city, Herek.

Thus ends the beginning of Columni, and the start her glorious history.

Introduction to Columni

The Dominion of Mavros
Have you ever dreamed a world? A place where epics and tales of heroes, kings, and common folk combine? I have, and for two years now, I have been bringing it to reality.

This is the world of
Columni
Please excuse my crappy pictures

I have an entire binder of nothing but this world, from the grandest countries to the lowest, from the richest of nobles to the poorest of peasants and the notables to the un-notables.
The land of Columni sits flat on the top of a giant column with 4 continents:
Porceline
Holia & Palpitat
The Elder States

The world of Columni was created by a being known only as the Creator, who after creation of this world, left in in the unstable hands of a goddess by the name of Hestia.

This has been an extremely short preview of my world. There is just so much to tell, so I am going to be posting these stories from my binder, which has more than enough information on the world. If you have any questions, feel free to Email or message me. Seriously, It helps me by giving me ideas.

Will be back with more,
Nolan.
